Nowadays Tamil cinema has lost its soul, because if we saw movies before 2010, Tamil movies were totally different. At that time, cultural and religious unity were the top priorities of the movie makers. At that time, movie names started with God names, like Sri Raja Rajeshwari (2001), Pottu Amman (2000), Palayathu Amman (2000), and Rajakali Amman (2000) and more movies. But nowadays violence, action, romance, and thrillers are the top priorities of the movie makers, but in this era where action and thrillers lead audience attention, Director Nanda Periyasamy comes with a totally different idea: Is this Thiru Manickam family and dramatic movie surviving in the era of action and thrillers?
Hello friends, If you're finding drama and family genre movies in 2024, I recommend Thiru Manickam, because this movie is a complete family pack; you don't see any type of adult and violent scenes. Half of it is a slow pace, and the mixture of drama and some lovely songs introduces us to Manickam and his small and lovely family. After the middle of the movie, we feel the pain of Manickam. A kindhearted person who doesn't have enough money for the operation of his daughter, who does not speak well, and he also falls into the debt trap. The movie picks up speed when the elder stumbles into Manickam’s lottery shop, his pockets empty. Our hero, bless his cotton socks, lets the old man pick out tickets on credit. No sooner does the senior citizen shuffle off than Manickam discovers a winning ticket among those left behind a cool 1.5 crore jackpot.
While the other side, the second half, is the combination of thriller and drama, when the Manickam family goes totally against the Manickam decision to return the lottery ticket to the original owner (old man).

No doubt Thiru Manickam's target audiences are millennials, but the director of the Thiru Manickam movie forgot that 2024 is the era of action, thriller, and comedy movies, where I think family dramas hardly survive.
One of the major issues regarding this movie is its slow pace, and director Nanda Periyasamy steals the Samuthirakani freedom of expression, because the first half is decent, but the second half looks like ChatGPT or other AI models wrote the movie script.
