Synopsis

Viswam is the story of Gopi, who claims that he is a texi drive and relative of jolly ready. When he meets flim stylist Sameera, he falls in love with her, but his real face reveals itself when he becomes close to Samiara’s family. Now the question is: who is Gopi and why is he hinding his intention, and what's the connection between Viswam and Darshana?

After giving a solid performance in Bhimaa , Tottempudi Gopichand, aka Gopichand, once again comes back with Old is Gold Vibes, where you see Kavya Thapar along with him in the lead cast. 

Fast half is well designed for those audiences who like drama and comedy. Because there are many scenes in the film where you see many comedians on screen like Vennela Kishore, Prudhvi, Naresh, Pragati, and VTV Ganesh, while the second half is slow pace and mixtures of action, thriller, and suspense. But the best thing about Viswam is it's gives a nostalgic feeling of the golden era of the Tamil film industry from 2002 to 2010, where no VFX was dominant and only real talent was dominant.

Viswam is 10x better than Bollywood films Adipurush and Selfiee, not because of a because of a lack of resources and budget, but because of a lack of talent and cliched script. While back to topic, Gopichand looks powerful as Viswam, where he wins audience hearts through innocent Texi drivers through comedy dialogues. The first half of his performance is decent as in his previous movies, but when we reach the end, we realize that this is not a comedy movie; it's an action thriller movie where comedy is its small part that revolves on its surface to attract more audiences.

We always hear that comedy is the backbone of every movie; this line is perfect sute in this film. Because if you remove Vennela Kishore and VTV Ganesh in a train episode from the film, Viswam becomes body without soul. While Prudhvi and Vennela Kishore did the needed.

Director Sreenu Vaitla's intentions are good regarding this film, but if he sees the movie through the perspective of the audience, of the audience, he learns that what mistake he made, the first half is in OK, but the second half has many flaws, like a slow pace, and the and the love triangle between Gopichand and Kavya Thapar is poorly written.

The mind game between the hero and the villain could have been built more effectively. Kavya Thapar, who stole the show through his performance in Ooru Peru Bhairavakona (2024), looked compressed in this film.

Chetan Bhardwaj's music is decent, and the background score is impressive. While KV Guhan cinematography is next level,  if editor Amar Reddy could have chopped off a few scenes, especially in the second half, it could affect movie performance.
