Plus Points (+)

After the success of Jai Bhim (2022), Director T. J. Gnanavel once again comes back with another action thriller movie where his ending social message opens your eyes. This movie is the fully family pack; you couldn't see any type of adult or any type of dark comedy scene that feels you shemless in front of your family and friends.
After Hum which was released in 1991 After 33 years, the duo is now reuniting on-screen in Vettaiyan, where both roles are totally against each other. Once who takes law in his hand, while the latter one believes the law is above all.

The first half is only for Rajni fans, where his entry style and how he kills Ganja Mafia are watchable. There are many scenes in the first half that feel a little bit boring due to the slow pace, but that's when Fahadh Faasil comedy dialogues grab your attention and hold you on the seat, while the second half is not as humorous and entertaining as the first, but if you like serious movies where action, thriller, and suspense play the majority role, there is a strong possibility that the second half is very interesting for you.

After success of Jailer (2023) and action cameo in Lal salaam (2024), Thalaivar once again comes back with an action thriller movie where he appears in the lead cast and plays the role of Athiyan, an encounter specialist who believes in delivering justice and is popular for breaking laws; that's why he doesn't like the human rights commission of India. The first half of his performance is outstanding, where his weapon is trademark style and charisma. But in the second half, he lost his charismatic personality when the movie shifted focus towards the scams involving Edutech companies. Rajnikant is popular for his solid dialogue delivery and entry style, not just as an action hero.

Amitabh Bachchan's Satyadev performance is decent, and he is exactly doing what is needed to make the movie serious. He appears on screen from time to time, but in the second half he is dominant, while Fahadh Faasil's comedy is next level, especially in the first half.

Minus Points (-)

If you give me choices of which movie you want to see now, Rajnikant's previous year's movie or Vettaiyan, I will definitely choose his previous movie. Because the first half is entertaining the audience through Fahadh Faasil comedy and Rajni style and how he breaks roles, but the second half is completely logicless and slow pace takes the audience's patience test.

Amitabh Bachchan is a legendary actor and Big B of Bollywood industry directors. He uses his fame to add seriousness to movies, but movies don't add any type of value to his life. If I conclude the whole paragraph in one line, Amitabh Bachchan's role is protecting the law, but our hero Rajnikant's role is bending or sometimes breaking the law.
The chemistry between Rajinikanth and Rana could have been better in the second half. If makers maintain the hype while Manju Warrior, Rithika Singh, and others are good actors, but due to bad writing, they disappear from screen in a short period of time.

Technical Aspects

Director T. J. Gnanavel is famous for Jai Bhim; now he works with Rajnikant and Amitabh Bachchan Vettaiyan. He did famously work in the first half of this film, where everything is well organized and entertaining. But the second half of the film has many flaws, especially regarding the pace.

Anirudh Ravichander’s music didn't add much value in flim, but his background music uplifted many scenes, especially in the second half. While S. R. Kathir's cinematography skills capture characters small to small emotional details, some action scenes look realistic when you sit in the last seat of the cinema hall.
