Plus Points (+)

We already saw many Tamil movies on transgender people, like Njan Marykutty (2018), Super Deluxe (2019), and Sigai (2017), but Neela Nira Sooriyan's purpose is totally different. This movie is not for soft-hearted people because there are a majority of chances that you will cry.
Through this film, director Samyuktha Vijayan shows the reality of our society, where people always discriminate against transgender people without knowing that he is a human, not a robot who was born without feeling.

The first half is fast pace and a combination of dramatic scenes where our hero Arvind slowly transitions into Bhanu (transgender). First he calls the customer care executive and introduces himself as a Bhanu. But the customer care executive replies, How can I help you, sir? He was disappointed and cut the call. His mission is to make people recognize him as a woman, not transgender.

But the second half is a little bit slow and very emotional. I don't recommend this film to emotionally weak people's. There are many scenes that make you cry, like how he deals with his father, who is very conscious about his reputation in public, and how he deals with his uncle, who scolds him for driving a pink scooter.
Samyuktha Vijayan as Arvind gives a new perspective to how we need to deal with transgender people because they are the incarnation of the Lord Mahavdev.

Before interval, Samyuktha Vijayan's acting is decent as an arvind, but he shines in the second half and becomes a Bhanu. How he deals with school prejudice: where school doesn't allow himself to use school toilets, he goes half a kilometer away from school to use public toilets.

If I conclude the whole above paragraph in a few lines, Neela Nira Sooriyan is an emotional and inspiring story of Bhanu ( Transgender) who believes in equality in society, but this cruel world doesn't listen to his voice, and how he faces his family and society is watchable.

Minus points (-)

Director Samyuktha Vijayan's intentions are good for the film; his mission is to raise awareness that transgender people are not aliens or robots; they are humans, but the slow pace and overly dramatic and emotional scenes make it a little bit unattractive. If the maker's adding some comedy scenes, especially in the second half better for the film.

Steev Benjamin's BGM score is decent, but his songs don't stand out as much in terms of music, while on the other side, Steev Benjamin's cinematography is next level, but his editing could have been better.
