Plus Points (+)

Ananth Ram, who became popular through the Meesaya Murukku 2017 movie, where he played the supporting role of Adhi's brother, is now the director and lead actor of this movie.

Watching Nanban Oruvan Vandha Piragu is like reading the biography of Ananth. It is long and interesting, where some chapters connect to our childhood memories and some are about a job-seeking struggle boy who failed to get any job after completing graduation.

Movie begins with our hero, Anand, who has written a personal journal daily to track his life, from school life to college to aspirants who struggle for their dream jobs and more day-to-day challenges in their journey.

First half feels like nostalgia, where we saw many things that recall your past, like the 90s magic of Colony Friends, games like Seven Stones and WWE trump cards, Superstar and Thala references, CSK vs. MI street fights, gossip with friends, and more. But the second half is a mixture of struggle, parental pressure, and it gives a lesson at the end of the movie, like don't quit your dreams in any situation.

If I conclude the whole paragraph in one line , the first half is the combination of childhood memories, chill school life, and memories of GF in college life, while the second half is the mixture of family pressure, financial pressure, and the loss of college love.

If you're a student or working in any profession, I recommend this movie to everyone, including those who are below 18+ Because when you watch this movie, it definitely reminds you of your childhood, and if you're a struggling boy, finding his dream job gives you motivation and inspiration.

Nanban Oruvan Vandha Piragu runs in a balanced way, where some scenes are filled with fun and childhood memories, while on the other hand, many scenes appear in the film that make you cry.

Minus Points (-)

Bhavani Sre as Kanamma is a very talented actress and has appeared in many movies like Viduthalai Part 1 (2023) and more, but this time she has nothing to do much; she hardly appears for 6 to 20 minutes in the full movie.

First half is more interesting than the second one, where adding a spicy taste of nostalgia forces you to lick your fingers.

Movie story is interesting, and the cast selection is perfect if the makers pull out some over-emotional scenes from the second half, which is good for the film.

Technical Aspects

Ananth Ram plays a double role in movies, first as a lead actor and second as a director. I personally appreciate Ananth Ram's hard work to make this type of movie, which reminds you of your past memories and indirectly gives a message like don't quit your goals in any extreme condition.

AH Kaashif gets decent makes in music, while on the other hand, Tamil Selvan shines with his cinematography skills, where he captures heroes and heroines in small to small details like cry, fun, struggle face, and more accurately. Popular through Pattampoochi (2022) and Coffee with Kadhal (2022), editor Fenny Oliver once again proves his talent where his editing skills are top-notch.
