Raju Yadav 2024 Tamil Movie: Critique
Plus Points (+)
Nowadays, many comedians have taken lead roles in movies, like Santhanam Paalswamy, who appears in lead roles in Vadakkupatti Ramasamy and Inga Naan Thaan Kingu. Following in his footsteps, Getup Srinu now appears in Raju Yadav, a comedy-drama movie, alongside Ankitha Kharat in the lead roles.
The filmmakers claim that the plot was inspired by true incidents. The first half revolves around the day-to-day life of Getup Srinu, how he meets Sweety, and some funny and dramatic scenes. However, the second half is the most important part of the movie, as it follows the path of RX100, where Suresh Bobbili's background music plays an important role in adding a touch of thriller and suspense.
Just as without Shiva, Shakti is incomplete, so too is a film without music. Having gained fame from the movie Animal , Harshavardhan Rameshwar now provides the music for this film, where his score is decent. However, special appreciation goes to Suresh Bobbili, whose background music adds a five-star quality to the second half of the movie.
Getup Srinu, who plays the role of Raju Yadav, a young man with a smiling disorder, maintains his expression until the end, a challenging task for him. His acting is good, but sadly, his role is not properly written. In the first half, his performance is outstanding, with the director magnifying his character through some good comedy and emotional scenes. The second half, however, will appeal more to those who love action, thriller, and revenge genres, sometimes giving the feeling of RX100.
On the other hand, Ankitha Kharat, the female lead who plays Sweety, delivers a decent performance. While her dialogues lack impact, her cute smile and some lovely scenes capture the audience's attention, especially when she learns the real cause of Raju Yadav's permanent smile and falls in love with him.
Ananda Chakrapani, who plays the hero’s father, does a great job. Although he appears on screen for a limited time, his emotional speech leaves a lasting impression. The rest of the supporting cast also does their best.
Minus Points (-)
There is nothing new that director Krishnamachary showcases here. Many scenes are similar to other movies. While some unique comedy scenes in the first half are good, there are many boring moments throughout the runtime.
The story of Raju Yadav is interesting and the cast selection is good, but due to poor execution, the movie falls into the boring category. If the director had removed some unnecessary scenes from the second half, it would have been better for the movie.
One of the biggest negative points of the film is the inconsistency of the hero’s character. Due to the lack of comedy in the second half, the movie becomes a bit boring for viewers who came to watch Getup Srinu's acting and comedy. However, there are a few comedy and emotional scenes that make the movie different and watchable.
Technical Aspects
Director Krishnamachary, known for Virata Parvam and Needi Naadi Oke Katha, has chosen a good story and cast for the movie. However, due to poor execution, Raju Yadav becomes a target of boredom, lacking clarity and consistency in the hero’s behavior.
The director takes inspiration from other movies, which is fine, but fails to add anything new to attract the audience's attention. Many scenes in the movie feel nostalgic.
Harshavardhan Rameshwar’s songs are decent. The background score by Suresh Bobbili is good, the cinematography by Sai Ram is fine, and the production values are decent.
Conclusion
Raju Yadav is a romantic drama that revolves around Raju Yadav and Ankitha Kharat. The story is unique and good, but the execution is lacking. The first half is more interesting compared to the second one.
