Inga naan thaan kingu 2024 Tamil Movie : Critique
Plus Points (+)
After giving a solid performance in Vadakkupatti Ramasamy , Santhanam comes with another comedy movie, starring alongside Priyalaya in the lead role.
Comedy movies are incomplete without Santhanam; he appears in most comedy and horror movies as a supporting cast. But now he stars in a mixed masala comedy movie where D. Imman's music plays an important role.
The first half of the movie runs in an interesting way, where Santhanam's comedy and Thambi Ramaiah's antics play important roles in entertaining the audience. However, the second half appears a little stretched and is not as impressive as the first, but still, some scenes give you a mix of comedy and seriousness.
Inga Naan Thaan Kingu is the second movie by Director Anand Narayanan. He adds some romantic and silly comedy scenes to grab the audience's attention, which is good. Ezhichur Aravindan’s writing plays an important role in giving the movie a unique and unpredictable plot. For instance, in one scene, the bride and groom are showered with costly nuts like almonds and cashews instead of the usual flowers. Vetri's brother-in-law explains that this is because the wedding must meet the Zamin's standards.
Comedy is the backbone of Inga Naan Thaan Kingu , and the whole movie revolves around it. The film starts with a terrorist attack in Mumbai, where hundreds of people die due to a bomb blast. It is strange to see bomb blast scenes in a movie where the lead actor is Santhanam, but this is a strategy by Director Anand Narayan to create suspense in the audience's mind.
Yes, it is true that the majority of Santhanam's movies lack logic. Some scenes in the movie defy logic entirely. There is no point in questioning the whys and hows, but due to these scenes, the comedy works better.
If you rate movies based on their music, you are in the right place. Immanuel Vasanth Dinakaran, also known as D. Imman, provides a decent soundtrack, but his background score is wonderful and adds value to the movie, not just as a source of entertainment.
Santhanam, famous for comedy, plays the lead role of Vetri, an orphan bachelor working at a matrimonial agency. The first half is a mixture of drama and comedy, where his performance is decent and entertains the audience through his comedy skills.
Newcomer Priyalaya, who appears in the lead cast and plays the role of Thenmozhi, performs well. However, her performance in the second half is a little disappointing due to bad writing. To conclude her performance in two lines: After Santhanam and Thambi Ramaiah, she is the third funniest actor in the movie. She succeeds in grabbing the audience's attention.
Thambi Ramaiah, as the Zamindar, delivers an appreciable performance. His character looks funny on screen but is difficult to play. Playing a character that is proud yet shameless is challenging. Balasaravanan, who plays the role of Chinna Zamindar, performs decently. Vivek Prasanna and the other supporting cast members also did well.
Minus Points (-)
Some scenes are completely illogical, so next time you watch a similar movie, please leave your mind at the back seat of the theater.
Priyalaya, a new and talented actress in the Tamil film industry, did not add much value to the movie. She just physically exists in all the scenes.
The terrorism topic is touched on just for namesake without proper justification, and it conveniently comes to an end.
Technical Aspects
As discussed above, Director Anand Narayan is new to the Tamil film industry. Inga Naan Thaan Kingu is his second movie. The title is inspired by Rajinikanth's dialogue from the film Jailer, which was released in 2023. Back to the topic:
A positive thing about Director Anand Narayan is that he assembled all the comedians together in the movie, but unfortunately, he failed to highlight those scenes smartly.
D. Imman’s background music is wonderful, but his songs seem a bit old-fashioned. On the other hand, cinematography by Om Narayan captures the bomb blast in Mumbai well, with bright visuals that look real. Lastly, M. Thiyagarajan’s editing is decent.
Conclusion
Inga Naan Thaan Kingu is a light-hearted movie that does not deliver any meaningful message. The first half is more interesting than the second one.
